Spiritual development is everything that brings me closer to God, that which is related to my prayer life. When do I know that I am growing spiritually? It seems to me that my development (i.e. progress) is expressed in the fact that I am calmer year by year believing that I am heading towards God, towards heaven, towards my final destiny.
I don’t often reflect on how much I have developed spiritually during my life. Certainly, my attendance at Mass (at least on Sundays and feast days), my participation in the sacraments (e.g., Penance, Holy Communion, Anointing of the Sick), and my daily prayer help me to grow spiritually.
I also observe my emotions, my attitude towards people, my falls into one sin or another, I observe if my relationships with people are better, if I as a person become more generous and kind towards my neighbour and the Catholic Church. I am already 49 years old, and age obliges one to become better and better man.
I believe that a Christian should develop spiritually and he has tools and help for that, e.g. groups at his / her parish. I am in OPUS SANCTORUM ANGELORUM (the Society of the Holy Angels) and on Fridays I adore the Blessed Sacrament, I want to pray to Christ for necessary graces for the Church, for me and for priests.
