Faith in God and His love for us humans – a personal reflection of a 50 year old.

La fede in Dio e il suo amore per noi uomini – una riflessione personale di un cinquantenne.

I have believed in God since I can remember, the faith was given to me by my parents, they “gave” me to my church, they made sure I was baptized as a child (I am Catholic, just like my parents). I remember attending Holy Masses (with my parents), I remember my parents’ daily prayers (on their knees). My parents taught me the faith and for that I am grateful to God and them.

Credo in Dio da quando ho memoria, la fede mi è stata trasmessa dai miei genitori, che mi hanno “regalato” alla mia chiesa e si sono assicurati che fossi battezzato da bambino (sono cattolico, proprio come i miei genitori). Ricordo di aver partecipato alla Santa Messa (con i miei genitori), ricordo le preghiere quotidiane dei miei genitori (in ginocchio). I miei genitori mi hanno insegnato la fede e per questo sono grato.

I have never doubted the existence of God; I believe that God created man in HIS image and likeness, created man out of love and called him to live in harmony with God. Belief in God and HIS love for man is a grace that I have experienced throughout my life. I find it hard to imagine that man was not created by God, because SOMEONE had to give rise to the existence of the world and man. One of the books of the Old Testament says that from the beauty of the creatures one recognises the Creator.

Non ho mai dubitato dell’esistenza di Dio; io credo che Dio abbia creato l’uomo a sua immagine e somiglianza, lo abbia creato per amore e lo abbia chiamato a vivere in armonia con Dio. Credere in Dio e nel suo amore per l’uomo è una grazia che ho sperimentato nel corso della mia vita. Trovo difficile immaginare che l’uomo non sia stato creato da Dio, perché QUALCUNO ha dovuto dare origine all’esistenza del mondo e dell’uomo. Uno dei libri dell’Antico Testamento dice che dalla bellezza delle creature si riconosce il Creatore.

We humans can discover ourselves and our destiny – some of us do this without believing in the existence of God, others discover their vocation by believing in God. I believe that God wants us to love HIM in imitation of HIS love for us. I am grateful to God for giving me faith, hope and love – those virtues that guide me through my life (I had my 50th birthday a few days ago). God’s love and God’s peace can overflow in our hearts – all we have to do is believe in God and let HIM guide us. God is almighty and can satisfy the desires of our hearts.

Noi esseri umani possiamo scoprire noi stessi e il nostro destino – alcuni di noi lo fanno senza credere nell’esistenza di Dio, altri scoprono la loro vocazione credendo in Dio. Credo che Dio voglia che lo amiamo imitando il SUO amore per noi. Sono grato a Dio per avermi donato la fede, la speranza e l’amore – quelle virtù che mi guidano nella vita (pochi giorni fa ho compiuto 50 anni). L’amore di Dio e la pace di Dio possono traboccare nei nostri cuori: basta credere in Dio e lasciarsi guidare da Lui. Dio è onnipotente e può soddisfare i desideri del nostro cuore.
