“I shall say to myself, “Now as for you, you have so many good things stored up for many years, rest, eat, drink, be merry!” (from The GOSPEL according to Luke, chapter 12)

“I shall say to myself, “Now as for you, you have so many good things stored up for many years, rest, eat, drink, be merry!” Is that what I can say to myself too? Is that what I want? No, that is not what I want. Things accumulated can never keep us safe. It may come to you or to me to die today. In this turbulent world, we cannot be sure of anything except change and that this world will end one day, it will be ended one day.

Things or money in themselves are not a bad thing, but they need to be used wisely. Each of us may be tempted to keep things in reserve in order to have something to live on, for example in retirement. Prudence is necessary. There are different lifestyles and different approaches to saving and saving for retirement. I am an advocate of setting aside a set amount from net income for retirement.

But remeber that there are some poor people who need your help.

May God bless you and your growth!
