Che cos’è la spiritualità?

First, this is definitely a question I am preparing to answer on my upcoming ordination exam but it is also timely during Lent because the 3 devotions that Our Lord asks us to rededicate ourselves to are: prayer, fasting, and alms. The first one, prayer, has to do directly with our inner spirituality.”

possiamo leggere: “Oggi ho pensato di dedicare qualche momento a riflettere su cosa intendiamo quando parliamo di “spiritualità”. Per un cattolico, cosa significa essere spirituale? Spesso le persone dicono di essere spirituali ma non religiose, cosa significa? Devo aggiungere che la genesi di questo discorso è duplice. In primo luogo, questa è sicuramente una domanda a cui mi sto preparando a rispondere nel mio prossimo esame di ordinazione, ma è anche opportuna durante la Quaresima, perché le tre devozioni a cui Nostro Signore ci chiede di ridedicarci sono: preghiera, digiuno ed elemosina. La prima, la preghiera, ha a che fare direttamente con la nostra spiritualità interiore”.
There is also this text: “So, what is Catholic Spirituality? It is growth in personal holiness. The Second Vatican Council makes a universal call to holiness. It is not only monks, nuns, and priests who are to be holy. All of us are, too!”
C’è anche questo testo: “Allora, che cos’è la spiritualità cattolica? È la crescita nella santità personale. Il Concilio Vaticano II fa una chiamata universale alla santità. Non sono solo i monaci, le suore e i sacerdoti a dover essere santi. Anche tutti noi lo siamo!”.
And this is also my opinion, spirituality is such our activities that sanctify us, we are sanctified by God Himself if we give our lives to Him. The path of sanctification is not easy, everyone has some kind of fetters, but God allows us to rise, strengthens us, lifts us up, hugs us to His loving heart. I hang it up like this and want to be faithful to God and let Him sanctify me. His grace can do what I cannot achieve with my own strength.
E questo è anche il mio parere, la spiritualità è tale che sono le nostre attività a santificarci, siamo santificati da Dio stesso se doniamo la nostra vita a Lui. Il cammino di santificazione non è facile, ognuno ha qualche pastoia, ma Dio ci permette di salire, ci rafforza, ci solleva, ci abbraccia al suo cuore amorevole. Io mi appendo così e voglio essere fedele a Dio e lasciare che Lui mi santifichi. La sua grazia può fare ciò che non posso ottenere con le mie forze.
