Will the world be a better place in 30 years (post inspired by Y. Strickler’s book)?

Ali bo svet čez 30 let boljši (prispevek po navdihu knjige Y. Stricklerja)

The book of Y. Strickler entitled “This Could be Our Future. A Manifesto for a More Generous World” is a real manifesto for a better world. In the first part, the author describes how a world today wracked by the lust for profit functions. In the second, he gives examples of individuals and companies whose philosophy includes reference to and guidance in their choices of values such as justice or environmental responsibility, for example. Y. Strickler gives examples of companies that operate according to a “Bentoist” philosophy (e.g. Chick-fil-A or Patagonia).

Knjiga Y. Stricklerja z naslovom “To bi lahko bila naša prihodnost. Manifest za bolj radodaren svet” je pravi manifest za boljši svet. V prvem delu avtor opisuje, kako deluje današnji svet, ki ga razjeda želja po dobičku. V drugem delu navaja primere posameznikov in podjetij, katerih filozofija vključuje sklicevanje na vrednote, kot sta na primer pravičnost ali okoljska odgovornost, in jih usmerja pri njihovi izbiri. Y. Strickler navaja primere podjetij, ki delujejo v skladu z “bentoistično” filozofijo (npr. Chick-fil-A ali Patagonia).

It will take many years for the idea described in the book to take hold, the author writes that in about 30 years the ‘Bentoist’ idea can reach many people and companies. In this new world, which may seem like a dream or a pipe dream to some, there will be room for values that will make the world a better place to live, companies will not be driven ONLY by the desire for maximum profits. Maximum profit will not be the main driving force of companies. Time will tell, we have to wait 30 years, but let us also spread these revolutionary ideas contained in Y. Strickler’s book.

Ideja, opisana v knjigi, se bo uveljavila šele čez več let, avtor pa piše, da bo ideja “bentoist” v približno 30 letih dosegla številne ljudi in podjetja. V tem novem svetu, ki se morda nekaterim zdi kot sanje ali neuresničljive želje, bo prostor za vrednote, ki bodo svet naredile boljši kraj za življenje, podjetij pa ne bo vodila SAMO želja po čim večjem dobičku. Največji dobiček ne bo glavna gonilna sila podjetij. Čas bo pokazal, počakati moramo 30 let, vendar razširjajmo tudi te revolucionarne ideje, ki jih vsebuje Y. Strickler.
