Za čo sa modliť?

The article entitled ‘What to pray for?’ was published in the magazine ‘Idziemy’ (no. 47/2023). The author is Fr Łukasz Piotrowski. Early on, the author writes: “What should we ask of the Lord God so that we do not treat Him like a goldfish who is supposed to fulfil our every wish?”
Článok s názvom “Za čo sa modliť?” bol uverejnený v časopise Ideme (č. 47/2023). Autorom je o. Łukasz Piotrowski. Na začiatku autor píše: “O čo by sme mali prosiť Pána Boha, aby sme sa k nemu nesprávali ako k zlatej rybke, ktorá má splniť každé naše želanie?”
I fully agree with Fr Piotrowski: it is not a good choice to pray for our dreams or whims to come true. So then, what should we pray to God for?
Plne súhlasím s otcom Piotrowským: nie je dobrá voľba modliť sa za splnenie našich snov alebo rozmarov. Za čo by sme sa teda mali modliť k Bohu?
The author gives the answer: firstly, we should pray for the greater glory of God. On page 39, the author explains: “Every prayer should lead to the magnification of God’s glory,…”.
Autor dáva odpoveď: Po prvé, mali by sme sa modliť na väčšiu Božiu slávu. Na strane 39 autor vysvetľuje: “Každá modlitba by mala viesť k zveľadeniu Božej slávy…”.
According to Fr Piotrowski, “Second in order is the petition for salvation.” The author also recommends that in the next order we should pray for the forgiveness of our guilt and the restoration of our state of union with God (when we lose sanctifying grace through sin). Only after that are other requests, e.g. for health, strength, safety, etc. “Idziemy” is a Polish Catholic periodical published by the Publishing House of the Warsaw-Praga Diocese.
Podľa otca Piotrowského “druhá v poradí je prosba o spásu”. Autor tiež odporúča, aby sme sa v ďalšom poradí modlili za odpustenie našich chýb a obnovenie stavu spojenia s Bohom (keď hriechom strácame posväcujúcu milosť). Až potom nasledujú ďalšie prosby, napr. za zdravie, silu, bezpečnosť atď. “Idziemy” je poľské katolícke periodikum, ktoré vydáva vydavateľstvo Varšavsko-pražskej diecézy.
